Kootenay Experience in Nelson, BC operates two adventure companies, Ymir Yurts and Wildhorse Snowcat Skiing.

All Ymir Yurt trips are catered and can be guided or unguided.    Summer trips are hiking and wildlife viewing while winter is based on backcountry ski touring.

What is a yurt?  It's an insulated tent featuring circular wood lattice walls.  There are two yurts for each destination; one sleeping 8 and equipped with wood stove and down quilts and the other is a kitchen/dining yurt that is the social hub.

Ski the famous untracked powder of the Selkirk's with Wildhorse Cat Skiing.    You'll experience everything from gentle open powder fields, gladed trees, steep trees, chutes, drops and POWDER is what we seek. Enjoy a variety of aspects, elevations and terrain for a perfect catskiing day!   

Kootenay Experience has a full back country retail and rental outlet, and also offers avalanche and  telemark /ski courses, ski touring guide training, winter leadership and summer programs include retreats and hiking camps.
