Kootenay Golf Trail |
|
| Featuring the Golf Courses of Canada's Golf Destination | |
The
Kootenay Golf Trail features 18-hole championship golf courses on the west side of
the Kootenay Rockies region. The International gateways
are the Canadian Rockies International Airport (in
Cranbrook, BC) and the Spokane International
Airport in Washington state (United States). The Revelstoke Golf Club is a classic, traditional course set within giant cedars and hemlocks in one of the prettiest mountain cities in Canada. While, the Golden Golf & Country Club is a special place where fairways skirt the banks of mighty rivers, greens sit eloquently beneath spruce trees and creeks charge from their mountain domains. |
|
From the south entrance of the region (Spokane, WA), your first golf destination is Christina Lake. Your week-long 'golf tour' can begin with a relaxing round at the Christina Lake Golf Club. The warm clear waters of Christina Lake, lure those with a love for water sports to flock to the area during summer months. Huddled at the base of the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges and minutes from the lake, is the beautiful Christina Lake Golf Course. Its pristine fairways are fingers of lush green carpet winding artistically through ponderosa pines and cedar, enticing golfers from early April to the end of October. After your round, follow Hwy #3 west to Castlegar. |

Rossland-Trail Country Club |
The Birchbank Course is a polished, up and down adventure that parades through mature trees with dynamite views of the Columbia River. The course has been challenging golfers since the mid-60's and is a strong enough test to have been awarded the BC Amateur Championship. |
Located on a secluded plateau set against a mountain, the Castlegar Golf Club is only minutes from the bustle of downtown Castlegar. No houses intrude; only deer and bear who call our course home, often raising their young in the surrounding forest. From Castlegar head west on Hwy #3 to Creston. The lush Creston Valley is an ideal environment for fruit orchards, wildlife and spectacular golf.

The Creston Golf Club, a championship layout in this pristine setting, offers great golf and scenery that is unmatched. The present layout is just ten years old, but you would never know it. The course features a number of elevated tees, challenging greens and a peaceful ambience that cannot be realized at big city courses. After your first round at Creston, the conversation typically gravitates to the towering tee shots hit at the 7th and 12th holes, where the ball seems to soar for an eternity! From Creston head north on Hwy #3A to Crawford Bay. |

The first
round of day is at Kokanee
Springs Golf Resort. Golfing at 'Kokanee'
is tranquil, serene and ultimately spectacular. The course wanders amiably through
towering trees, over creeks and around calm glassy ponds. Emerald
fairways descend gently down slopes and greens rise eloquently to thoughtfully chosen
sites. Course designer Norman Woods, took maximum advantage of the natural
assets of its scenic setting. Kokanee Springs is vintage Woods and it is a
course that pulls people back again and again. |

From Kokanee Springs, take the Kootenay Lake Ferry to Balfour and enjoy your second round at the Balfour Golf Club. Situated on the west arm of beautiful Kootenay Lake, the Town of Balfour has come alive with championship golf. This 18 hole course is loaded with character and delivers breathtaking views of the Selkirk and Purcell Mountains. Designed by Les Furber, the course features dramatic elevation changes, large greens and excellent shot values - all which will make your experience at the Balfour Golf Course a memorable one. |
This
gem of a course features bent grass greens and blue grass fairways and is built on 150
acres of benchland overlooking the heritage city of Nelson and Kootenay
Lake. Granite
Pointe's picturesque front nine winds through the lower part of the benchland
before rising to a more challenging series of holes and magnificent views. |
|
| From Nelson, head south on Hwy #3A to Crescent Valley, then north on Hwy #9 to Slocan, Silverton and then New Denver.
Continue heading north on Hwy #23 to Nakusp and finally to Revelstoke (via Upper Arrow Lake ferry). While in the area, be sure to stop at one of the many natural hot springs. Along this stretch of highway there are several Par3 and Executive courses to play, including Slocan, New Denver and Nakusp. The northern 'Golf Trail Connector' will connect you the east side of the Kootenay Rockies and the Rockies Golf Trail, click here for more details. |
