4. Halcyon Hot
Springs History
The Arrow Lakes Historical Society provides
this entertaining account of the history of Halcyon Hot Springs, originally
opened in 1894, and closing with the fire of 1955, which saw the Hotel burned to
the ground.
In March of 1999 the Halcyon Hot Springs
Resort was reopened after 44 years with chalets, campsites and plans for a 80
room lodge.

The sternwheeler S.S. Moyie, a National
Historic site in the Village of Kaslo, British Columbia, is one of the most
significant preserved steam passenger vessels in North America.

Crowsnest Highway History
The Crowsnest Highway #3 is
Western Canada's Old Road to the coast and is the Kootenay Rockies' southern
route across the region. It is 1,800 kilometres (1,117 mi) in length,
travelling from Hope, British Columbia to Medicine Hat, Alberta.

St. Eugene Mission
The St. Eugene Mission was
established in the late nineteenth century by Father Coccola. This
historic building was an Indian Residential School.
The former school has been transformed into a resort which includes an
Interpretive Centre and an Arts and Crafts Cooperative. The Centre
provides visitors with an aboriginal perspective of the area, its history and
its people, and also provides guided excursions in the traditional territory of
the Ktunaxa.

Castlegar
In 1946, Castlegar was
incorporated into a village. Then in 1966 incorporated into a town.
There was little in Castlegar until after the completion of the CPR bridge.
