Ktunaxa Interpretive Centre

Description

Set on the banks of the St. Mary River, the Ktunaxa Interpretive Centre at the St. Eugene Mission Resort was constructed in 1910 and operated for 60 years as a residential school for Aboriginal children. In 2002, as a result of partnerships between Hotels and the Ktunaxa Kinbasket Tribal Council, the St. Eugene Mission was transformed into a modern full-service resort.

The Resort includes the Interpretive Centre and an Arts & Crafts Gift Shop. The Centre is a showcase promoting Aboriginal contemporary arts, culture and heritage. On display are historic photographs, scale models of traditional tipis, the sturgeon-nosed canoe and many other artifacts.
