Non-skiers: 5 Ways to Indulge at Island Lake Lodge this Winter

Non-powder skiers shouldn’t be intimidated by the reputation of Island Lake Lodge. If the property did earn its fame for the exceptional cat-skiing experience it offers, the lodge is also luring winter-loving gastronomy, soft adventure and wellness enthusiasts.

The popular Winter Lunch & Spa is back with a decadent menu and extended schedule – from Thursday to Sunday through the whole season.

Here are 5 simply indulgent ways to enjoy the incredible location:

#1 - Ride A Snowcat: The lodge can be accessed by car in the summertime, but the road remains covered in (lots of!) snow for almost 6 months of the year. A pleasant 25-minute snowcat ride is a fun, warm and cozy way to get to Island Lake Lodge in style, in the winter. New this year, in their constant effort to improve guest’s comfort and enjoyment, Island Lake has invested in custom-designed new passenger carriers featuring bucket seats and high-tech sound systems.

#2 - Go Snowshoeing: A network of tracked cross-country ski and snowshoe trails wraps around the Island Lake at the valley bottom in the stunning old-growth cedar forest and offers beautiful “Instagraminary” views of the Lizard range and a real experience of the legendary powder snow.

#3 - Get a spa-licious treatment: Island Lake Health Spa features six treatment rooms – one with a deep Japanese soaking tub – retail boutique, change rooms and relaxation rooms. The variety of treatments will appeal to skiers and non-skiers alike including: exfoliation, aromatherapy, foot care and a number of massage traditions. Time spent in the solarium and the outdoor space with hot tub and unbeatable mountain views will complement the spa treatment for the ultimate relaxation.

#4 - Savour the culinary art: Island Lake’s Winter Lunch menu will amaze the most refined palates with delicious combination of locally sourced ingredients and rich savoir-faire. Pasta Puttanesca, Wild Salmon Tacos or Moroccan Chicken Tagine are all made from scratch in the lodge’s kitchen and paired with a bottle from the property’s impressive wine library…and to indulge even more, why not finish up with a sweet and spiced apple galette or a dark chocolate torte, a rich espresso or one more glass of wine?!

#5 - Relax by the Fireplace:  How often can we just cuddle up on a couch and read a book by the fireplace or simply look out the oversized windows to the majestic Rocky Mountains in today’s life? A day-escape at Island Lake lodge may be the perfect opportunity to do just that and live the moment…without further explanations needed.
