Looking for a new experience this spring? From secluded glamping to high-end hotels, here are 13 new accommodation options in the Kootenays.


An award winning mountain modern bed & breakfast named Blackstone B&B is a stylish property and comfortable base for adventuring in the Fernie area. The newly constructed wood and stone home is about five minutes from downtown.  Amenities include an infrared sauna and wood-fuelled hot tub. Guests staying in the main floor rooms have the option to include breakfast with their overnight which is something wonderful such as scrambled eggs topped with salmon or oatmeal pie.

Fernie RV Resort is designed to accommodate a complete range of recreational vehicles from the smallest to the most sophisticated. They also host five Yurts, offering the adventure of camping without needing to pack all the camping gear.

Meanwhile, Radius is a forested mountainside retreat offering walk-in Yurt rentals and 1,000 acres of explorable wilderness, just north of Radium Hot Springs. Through diverse experiences, Radius aims to create a vibe of returning to nature.

Experience tiny living without giving up the comforts of home. Snow Valley Lodging, in Fernie, has recently added tiny homes to their room fleet and are located just minutes from Fernie’s downtown hub.

Nowhere Special is the quintessential modern hostel located at the base of RED Mountain Resort in Rossland BC, just a two minute walk away from the chairlift. With a number of floor plans catering to different needs for privacy and price, this hostel is suitable for all ages who value connection and community. And skiing or riding.

The Shon Hostel is best described as a boutique hostel. It is where classic antique and modern functionality intersect, the result is clean and comfortable yet super stylish and funky. The interior perfectly complements the history of the building, which was built in 1910 as an opera house in Nakusp BC. It now finds itself completely renovated, while retaining its vibe and continues to welcome its guests. 


A boutique experience with great service, The Explorers Society Hotel, in Revelstoke BC, offers nine rooms with a chic Scandinavian-inspired décor, an inventive French restaurant the Quartermaster Eatery, a cozy basement whiskey bar, a great hall for events, a rooftop lounge complete with mountain views, hot tub and fireplace and a retail shop carrying hotel branded goods.

Located slope-side at RED Mountain Resort in Rossland BC, The Josie Hotel is a modern 106-room boutique hotel with a restaurant, bar, conference and meeting rooms, a large function desk and a spa including an outdoor slope-side pool. The Josie is the region’s first boutique hotel of its kind and a true ski-in, ski-out property, providing luxury accommodation and an authentic mountain experience.

Newly built, Ramada Hotel, has 85-rooms on the TransCanada Highway in Revelstoke, featuring free breakfast, indoor pool with waterslide, motor-coach parking and meeting room space to accommodate groups of up to 60-people.

The Savoy Hotel is proud to reside on historic grounds for more than 100 years! On the buildings 100th birthday, the Savoy Hotel finished a major redevelopment of the hotel which is now home to 12 boutique rooms, a night club and a roof top patio with hot tub (offering amazing views of Kootenay Lake and the Selkirk Mountains).

The Sentinel is a wellness retreat on the shores of Kootenay Lake near Kaslo BC.  The retreat invites world-renowned leaders and trainers to the area, offering a mix of cutting edge programs designed for individuals, groups and corporations. Programs are offered in the fields of personal empowerment & growth, lasting health, mind-body medicine, spiritual awakening, leadership training, practitioner training, artistic & literary retreats, the sacred arts and movement-based workshops.


This spring, new condos will be built in Golden's downtown centre.  The Oso condos will be a short drive to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and a short stroll to the downtown core through Spirit Square (the social hub of downtown Golden). 

New construction will begin in Trail BC, along the Columbia River, the Crown Columbia All-Suites Boutique Hotel is going through major renovations and a happy face-lift to the century-old building.  The property plans to open in June/July 2019.
