2026 Current Travel Advisories & Major Events:
Highway Closures
February 26 – Highway #1 between Oak Drive and 14 St N for 141.3 km for avalanche control work. Estimated time of re-opening: 3pm PST.
March 12-14 – Highway 93 between Simpson River and Kootenay National Park for 4.5 km; from 7am to 7pm MST; construction work planned; intermittent closures of both lanes.
March 15-22 – Highway 93 between Settlers Road and Simpson River Trail for 1.4 km; from 7am to 7pm MST; construction work planned; intermittent closures of both lanes.
Ferry Disruption
March 2 – Harrop Ferry – Highway 3A – Ferry will be out of service due to required maintenance.
BC Parks Active Advisories
Purcell Wilderness Conservancy has limited access.
Top of the World Park has limited access.
Valhalla Park has limited access.
Kootenay & Yoho National Parks
All waterbodies in these parks are closed to watercraft and angling to reduce the spread of aquatic invasive species, including whirling disease.
In effect until March 31, 2026.
