DescriptionTake a step back into Canadian history and experience a mountain adventure like no other. Built in 1928, Assiniboine Lodge is the first ski lodge in the Canadian Rockies. Retaining its rustic charm of the past, comfortable and cozy accommodations are the perfect base to explore the spectacular surroundings. The full-service lodge welcomes 30 guests in 7 private cabins and 5 lodge rooms.
Accessible from Canmore, guests enjoy guided ski touring and hiking, great fresh hearty food, warm showers, saunas and goose down duvets. The Assiniboine family welcomes people with an adventurous spirit who are ready to be inspired by the mountains and beautiful meadows. Extraordinary experiences are served up daily.
Assiniboine Lodge is located in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park in British Columbia. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Assiniboine is a place of soaring glacier clad peaks and powder snow, alpine meadows filled with larch trees, wildflowers, turquoise lakes and remote wilderness. The park is 28 km (17 mi) from the nearest road and accessible by helicopter, hiking or skiing.
During the summer, Assiniboine Lodge welcomes guests to hike among some of the world's most breathtaking views. Each day, guests can choose between two guided hiking trips. One is easier and shorter, while one is more challenging and longer.
In the winter, the meadows and mountains around Assiniboine Lodge offer the best traditional ski touring in the Canadian Rockies. From rolling meadows to alpine summits, the varied terrain and ski touring guided by fully-certified ACMG mountain guides make Assiniboine the perfect place for backcountry skiers of all levels.
After a day out 'moving in the mountains' in winter or summer, return to the lodge and share stories of the day with fellow guests over tea, fresh baked goodies and tasty snacks or a beer on the deck.
Assiniboine Lodge manages the Campgrounds and operates basic overnight shelters at the Naiset Huts for hikers and skiers and the Hind Hut for climbers.
