CrossRiver Wilderness Centre is a remote, family-owned facility for experiencing and learning about the natural world located southeast of Kootenay National Park in the main ranges of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. You can choose from heritage cabin or tipi accommodation, and mix hiking, backpacking, or rafting with a yoga retreat, wilderness skills workshop, or intercultural sharing experience with an Aboriginal Elder.
Learn and challenge yourself with a knowledgeable guide; or simply relax and share stories around the campfire or outdoor wood-fired hot tub.
In the high-season (mid-June to mid-September), all bookings include wild gourmet meals, with fresh herbs and produce, wild and organic meats whenever possible, and delicious vegetarian creations.
The entire facility is completely off-the-grid, fully energy self-sufficient, and they role-model mindful and environmentally-sustainable living practices.
Inspiration is also drawn from their own Metis Aboriginal ancestry to help bring more awareness to the rich social and ecological relationships in our lives.
