Elkford is the most remote town in the region, a scenic 30 minute drive north of Sparwood.

It has a picturesque setting at the junction of Boivin Creek and the Elk River. It is a popular destination for a range of outdoor recreational activities, including ATV touring, hiking and mountain biking.

Shops, restaurants, community parks, a 9-hole golf course, more than 30 kilometres (19 mi) of interpretive hiking trails, Josephine Falls, an extensive mountain biking network and endless snowmobiling are local highlights.

During the summer, board the tour bus at the Visitor Centre and be transported into one of Canada’s most productive steelmaking coal operations. Tours are free of charge; book your spot by calling the Visitor Centre.

Late June, each year, Wildcat Days is a weekend of fun and games for the whole family including parade, live entertainment and Craft & Trade Show.
