Fernie Museum

Housed in the restored former Home Bank, built in 1909, the Museum is an important example of Fernie’s rich history.

On the main floor, the permanent exhibit ‘This is Our Fernie’ tells the story of the city of Fernie from the arrival of the first prospectors in the late 1800s, through years of mining, commerce, tragedy and community through to the busy hub industry and tourism that we know today.

A gift shop and visitor information area are also located on the ground floor with assistance provided from friendly local staff.

The second floor gallery hosts temporary exhibits throughout the year depicting various aspects of heritage and art from the Elk Valley.

Open Thursday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm, plus some holidays and extended hours during busier months.

Regular admission is adults $5, seniors $4, free 18 years and under.
Admission is by donation when the 2nd floor gallery is closed.
Public washrooms are located on each floor.
