Great Northern Snowcat Skiing

Laid-back, mind-blowing backcountry skiing in the Selkirks.

For over four decades, Great Northern has delivered unforgettable powder experiences in the Selkirk Mountains. Offering all-inclusive 3-day, 4-day and 7-day packages, guests enjoy endless turns, gourmet meals and cozy lodge living; all without the crowds.

Terrain

Welcome to the Bad Shot Range, where over 15 metres (50 feet) of snow falls each year. It piles up in steep chutes, wide-open faces, and perfectly spaced glades — terrain that keeps both intermediate and expert skiers grinning all day long. Two heated Pisten Bully snowcats, the Ferraris of the backcountry, carry small groups of up to 16 guests, climbing mountains in any weather to deliver lap after lap of untouched powder. When helicopters are grounded, Great Northern keeps going – snow or shine.

Lodge

The lodge is relaxed, rustic, and welcoming. The kind of place that feels like home the moment you step inside. A crackling wood-burning fireplace sets the mood, while the cedar sauna, outdoor hot tub, and games room invite you to unwind after a big day in the mountains. With cozy private rooms, each with its own bathroom and all the comforts you need, rest comes easy before another day of deep snow and big smiles.

Dining

Great Northern has perfected the art of gourmet comfort food. Breakfast kicks off at 7 am with homemade oatmeal, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon and potatoes. Lunch and snacks are served slopeside, and when Chef Terry rings the dinner bell, guests gather for a feast – hearty, four-course meals inspired by flavours from around the world. Bring your favourite drinks, find a seat by the fire and toast to another perfect day in the Selkirks.

Experience

At Great Northern, it’s all about deep snow, good company, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re carving first tracks or relaxing fireside, you’ll find the perfect balance of adventure and comfort – the way backcountry skiing was meant to be.
