Icefall Lodge is a comfortable refuge in one of the most wild, remote corners of the Canadian Rockies just 20 minutes north of Golden via helicopter.
On the west side of the divide, it shares a border with Banff National Park but is far from the crowded hiking trails of Banff and Lake Louise. No roads, towering mountains and few visitors make this the perfect getaway for those looking for wilderness solitude.
Civilization may seem distant, but the hut offers comfortable accommodation; bright double rooms, indoor toilet, sauna, shower, drying room, cozy wood stove and glacier views out the living room window.
Relax after a day in the mountains while the chef prepares gourmet meals.
In summer the lush meadows bloom with a huge variety of wildflowers. Clear, clean mountain streams provide numerous waterfalls both large and small.
Summer activities include hiking, photography, wildlife viewing and glacier treks. For the more adventurous, explore the high peaks with a mountain guide or take a mountaineering course.
Backcountry ski touring at Icefall is considered by many to be the best in the world. The winter brings a deep snowpack, bottomless powder and the longest ski runs of any backcountry lodge in British Columbia. After the helicopter drops you off, you won’t see or hear anybody else for the week. Over 20,000 hectares of untracked ski terrain is yours to enjoy.
The ski touring options seem endless with glaciers, trees, open alpine bowls and ski mountaineering peaks.
