Kootenay Paragliding offers Tandem Flights whenever the weather allows from May through November in the Nelson / Salmo area. And, December through April at RED Mountain Resort. If it’s not rainy, stormy or really windy, they are likely flying.
Tandem flights launch from a mountainside chosen depending on the days wind direction and local conditions.
Fans of Nelson’s Pulpit Rock / Flagpole Trail enjoy the ‘Hike and Fly’ option from the Flagpole Launch – the cleanest, greenest and most rewarding paragliding adventure. Ride the wind on the west side of Elephant Mountain, fly over the city of Nelson and land at the Nelson Airport.
Certification Programs are offered for those who want to pursue the sport of paragliding, those who want to upgrade their current certification and those who want to convert to a Canadian Certification.
Guiding is also offered for experienced pilots seeking local knowledge and logistics concerning local cross-country routes.
At Kootenay Paragliding, the equipment is inspected every flight, tested regularly and upgraded continually. Weather conditions are re-assessed every flight to ensure suitability. They are proud of their ongoing accident-free safety record.
