Perched high above the authentic mountain city of Nelson, along Canada’s famous Powder Highway, Whitewater Mountain Resort is where the simple things once again have meaning. The focus here is on good quality snow, fresh in-house made meals, and genuine hospitality. Often described as “humble yet huge,” the resort receives an average of 12 metres (40 feet) of snowfall each year, blanketing a playful mix of steeps, deeps, chutes, bowls, glades, and soft groomers, all from a base elevation of 1,650 metres (5,400 feet).

NEW for 2026/27 – One of the biggest changes coming to Whitewater this winter is the addition of Short Side to the resort’s inbounds terrain. Located between Giddy Up Gully and Sproulers, Short Side has historically sat outside the ski area boundary, but it brings six new runs to the trail map this winter, featuring the fall-line skiing, gladed terrain and classic Whitewater character that make this part of the mountain so special. Crews worked hard all summer to bring the terrain inbounds, adding approximately 75 hectares (190 acres) to Whitewater’s controlled recreation area.

Sustainable Tourism 2030 – Silver Rating
The Sustainable Tourism Assessment consists of approximately 81 questions related to various areas of sustainable tourism operations. Each Question of the assessment has been assigned a specific point value based on the environmental, social and economic impacts of the particular action. Sustainable Tourism Grading Levels: Platinum 90%+ / Gold 75-89% / Silver 55-74% / Bronze 35-45%.

Over the past few seasons, Whitewater has expanded its inbounds terrain by more than 180 acres, opening up even more of the deep, untouched powder the resort is famous for. From False Signal to Worth It, this new terrain delivers fresh lines, exciting challenges, and plenty of room to explore. And when you’re ready to extend the adventure, Hummingbird Lodge and Campground awaits at the edge of the resort boundary. It offers year-round front door access to Whitewater’s outdoor recreation, from winter touring, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing to backcountry education. Stay in an RV or forested campsite, book the boutique two-bedroom suite, or simply refuel at the stellar café.
